Course Description

For professionals new to business analysis roles and responsibilities within their organization, this course will provide you with not only the preparation you will need to pass IIBA’s Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA) exam, but also a foundation for a career in business analysis. Participants will learn invaluable tips and tricks needed to pass the ECBA exam. This course follows IIBAs ECBA exam blueprint based on the BABOK® Guide v.3.0.

This course satisfies the 21 hours of formal education required to sit for the ECBA exam.

Course Objectives

  1. Business analysis key concepts including: key terms, the business analysis core concept model (BACCM), and requirements classification schema.
  2. Identification of key stakeholders and how to work with them.
  3. How to analyze the current state, define the future state, assess risks, and recommend how to get from the current to the future state.
  4. How to plan business analysis work, including planning needed for both Agile (Adaptive) and Waterfall (Prescriptive) initiatives.
  5. How to prepare for and conduct elicitation activities, as well as confirming and communicating the results of those activities.
  6. How to specify and model requirements, how to verify and validate requirements, how to look at different options and recommend a solution.
  7. The importance of managing requirements by tracing, prioritizing, and approving them, as well as handling any changes.
  8. The importance of measuring the solution to determine its value and recommend ways to increase its value.
  9. The various techniques and competencies needed to succeed at business analysis work.

Course Prerequisites

An ECBA™ (Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™) is level one in the business analysis certification framework from the International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®). The ECBA certification recognizes individuals entering the business analysis profession or those who manage business analysts and want to understand the required knowledge and competencies of a business analysis practitioner. Applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements in order to be admitted to the exam, and upon passing the exam, receive the ECBA certification credential.
